Mindset as a Pillar

Mindset as a Pillar – What is Mental Health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness.

Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including:

  • Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry
  • Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse
  • Family history of mental health problems

Mental Adaptability

Life throws you curveballs – at work and at home. Being mentally adaptable can help open up your perspective and present more solutions to problems at hand. Here’s how being positive and creative can help you navigate obstacles with confidence:

  • Meditation
  • Being Open-Minded
  • Asking for help
  • Measuring – Pros and Cons
  • Solution oriented
  • Prioritizing by importance
  • Being Flexible

“Exercise, eat well and maintain a good work-life balance”: It’s not the first time you’ve heard these tips for a Stress-free life. According to Statistics Canada, 27% of Canadian employees report most days as “quite a bit” or “extremely stressful.”

Some of the other alternatives include:

  • Keep Moving
  • Yoga/Tai Chi
  • Positive mind set
  • Get Outdoors

The food you eat and when you eat it can play a major role in helping you reduce stress. We will cover the “Eat Well” aspect in our next newsletter, so stay tuned, until then…
